The United States moved five more Navy ships and a second 1,900-Marine assault force into the Mediterranean today but Administration officials said military action to help American hostages in Lebanon was unlikely.

The move into the western Mediterranean by the amphibious assault ship Inchon and four escorts from Rota, Spain, swelled the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean to 25 combat ships and 10 support vessels, Pentagon spokesman Bob Sims said.
