Moscow’s famed Bolshoi Theatre will close this summer for two years of renovation and restoration, the newspaper Moskovskaya Pravda said Tuesday. Sources with contacts in the Moscow theater world said the Bolshoi was expected to close on June 1 and reopen for a few weeks in the fall during celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. A Bolshoi director told the newspaper that performances by its opera and ballet troupes would be moved to nearby theaters during the closure.
