Soviet movie fans will be able to see films by Federico Fellini, Milos Forman and other Western directors following a shake-up in the state film hierarchy, a leading Soviet film maker said Tuesday. Elem Klimov, head of the Soviet film makers’ union, told reporters in Paris that Soviet authorities had bought all of Fellini’s films and would start by showing “La Dolce Vita,” a 1959 tale of society life in Rome. He said it was also planned to show Czech-born Forman’s Academy Award winning “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Amadeus.” He said cost was still a key factor, as Moscow had found Steven Spielberg’s “E.T.” too expensive.
