South Bay : More Job Funds Awarded
For the third consecutive year, the South Bay Private Industry Council has been awarded an additional $194,791 for exceeding state Job Training Partnership Office standards.
The council--made up of El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach--achieved an 82% placement rate for adults who completed the program.
The money will be used to serve additional residents, augment existing programs or provide new services in Inglewood, Gardena, Hawthorne and Lawndale, according to Rhetta Alexander, a council spokeswoman.
The council was created in 1983 to administer and operate employment training programs authorized by the 1982 federal Job Training Partnership Act. Funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Labor through the state Employment Development Department’s Job Training Partnership Office.
