Post Office Project to Shut Eagle Rock Bowling Alley

Share

The U.S. Postal Service said it plans to shut down an Eagle Rock bowling alley it owns in order to build an $8.5-million post office on the site.

Eagle Rock Lanes on North Figueroa Street is expected to close in May, said Larry Dozier, a communications specialist for the Postal Service. That will leave Eagle Rock with one bowling alley, the All-Star Lanes on Eagle Rock Boulevard.

The new Eagle Rock Post Office will supplement a Highland Park facility that the Postal Service has outgrown, Dozier said. The Postal Service plans to build a 32,000-square-foot building on the four-acre site in Eagle Rock. Construction is expected to take about two years, Dozier said.

The Postal Service recently bought the 26-year-old bowling alley from Active West Bowling and Recreation Centers for $3.6 million, Dozier said.
