Writer-Director Oliver Stone received two Writers Guild of America screenwriting awards nominations Thursday. His screenplays for “Platoon” and “Salvador” (co-authored with Richard Boyle) were among nominees for best screenplay written directly for the screen. Others nominated were David Lynch (“Blue Velvet”), Woody Allen (“Hannah and Her Sisters”) and Neil Jordan and David Leland (“Mona Lisa”). Nominated for best screenplay adapted from another medium were Hesper Anderson and Mark Medoff (“Children of a Lesser God”), Paul Mazursky and Leon Capetanos (“Down and Out in Beverly Hills”), Howard Ashman (“Little Shop of Horrors”), Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (“A Room With a View”) and Raynold Gideon and Bruce A. Evans (“Stand by Me”).
