A U.S. fugitive wanted on the same indictment that led to the extradition to Florida of a Colombian cocaine baron has been captured in the jungles of Panama, U.S. drug officials announced. Jack Carlton Reed, 56, of San Pedro, Calif., faces 1981 cocaine smuggling charges along with Carlos Lehder, who was arrested after a shootout with Colombian forces last week and was swiftly extradited to Florida. Reed was caught Friday night by Panamanian troops and agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in a remote jungle area of Panama, according to DEA agents who spoke on condition of anonymity.
