Poison Liquor Kills 20 in Sri Lanka; 171 Treated

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —
At least 20 people died and 171 are being treated for poisoning from homemade liquor consumed on Sri Lanka’s Independence Day, police said Saturday.
Authorities investigating last Wednesday’s mass poisonings said it appeared that a moonshiner laced the drink, called kassipu, with methyl alcohol.
