Tank and rocket fire shook Beirut for the third day as Shia Muslim militiamen battled Palestinians defending two refugee camps. Police said nine people were killed and 41 wounded. Authorities said the Shia Muslims poured cannon fire from Soviet-made tanks into the two camps while Palestinian gunners in hills southeast of Beirut bombarded Shia suburbs near the camps with Soviet-made Grad rockets.
