The Norwegian town of Lillehammer says it wants to try again to become host city for the Winter Olympics in 1994. The decision, announced by the International Olympic Committee at its executive board session, means that five of the six cities that made unsuccessful bids for the 1992 Winter Games are at least provisionally back in the running.

Anchorage, Alaska; Are, Sweden; Sofia, Bulgaria; and Lillehammer--all losers when the ’92 Games were awarded last October--are definite candidates for the first set of Winter Olympics to be held in a different year than the Summer Games.

Berchtesgaden, West Germany, also an unsuccessful candidate for 1992, has tentatively announced its bid pending a final decision by the West Germany Olympic Committee. That leaves only Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy, among the 1992 bidders out of the race for 1994.
