From true love to stabbed-in-the-back love, from quick love to love that just won’t die, View writers have chronicled looks at love in the ‘80s for Valentine’s Day eve. Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent, and the guilty, but all are true . . . even if love sometimes isn’t.

Barbara de Angelis, psychotherapist, creator of the Making Love Work seminars and author of the forthcoming “How to Make Love All the Time” (Rawson), offers this antidote for couples who never seem to have enough time for intimacy: “A 20-second kiss, three times a day. That’s just enough time to get the passion flowing. Most of us get so busy in our lives that during the week we just have time for quick pecks on the cheek. We get lazy and then Saturday night comes and we wonder why we don’t feel passionate.”

De Angelis cautions, however, that the 20-second kiss should be exercised with considerable discipline: “I know somebody who said they tried a 20-second kiss, which turned into a 40-second kiss, then a 60-second kiss and they didn’t go into work at all that day.”
