Cycling Championships Left Out in the Cold

Share

I’m a little perturbed by the sudden fuss over the America’s Cup, which seems to be due simply to the presence of an American boat and an awful lot of money. These supporters won’t pay attention to the sport for another four years, probably. And The Times sends two reporters to Australia to give us all the facts and personal stories.

How many reporters went to Colorado Springs last September for the World Cycling Championships, the first time in decades it had been held in this country? You may realize that there are both more participants and more spectators of cycling than yachting in this country--certainly in this region.
