Somali troops killed more than 300 Ethiopian soldiers and destroyed 11 tanks in beating back an Ethiopian attack on government positions in northwestern Somalia, Mogadishu radio reported. The Somali broadcast, monitored in Nairobi, said the attack took place Thursday in the Todgher region. It also reported that 25 Ethiopian soldiers were wounded and taken prisoner while 30 of its own soldiers were killed. Ethiopia has denied that its forces crossed the border.
