Reagan Gives $1,000 for Boy’s Transplant
A 7-year-old boy whose liver transplant funds were stolen received a $1,000 personal check from President Reagan on Monday as the youth and his mother prepared to depart for a Pittsburgh, Pa., hospital.
Enclosed with Reagan’s check was a photograph of the President in his ranch jacket.
Ronnie DeSillers, who was in Miami Children’s Hospital, is scheduled to fly today to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, where he will be evaluated for a liver transplant, his mother, Maria DeSillers, said.
Ronnie’s plight was publicized last week when his Fort Lauderdale school reported that $4,000 Ronnie’s schoolmates had raised for his operation was stolen.
