Caterpillar decided to close its Davenport plant.

Employees at the Iowa facility were informed that the company plans to shift products made at Davenport to Caterpillar plants in Aurora, East Peoria and Mossville, Ill. D6H track-type tractors will be assembled at the East Peoria plant. The new Challenger 65 agricultural tractor will be assembled at the Aurora plant. Davenport Production will be phased out over a number of months.
