Two men convicted of conspiring to sell arms to Iran were granted a new trial by a federal judge in Orlando, Fla., who cited the disclosure of the Iran arms deal. U.S. District Judge G. Kendall Sharp also ordered the release of the men, Paul Cutter, 49, of San Jose, and Charles St. Claire, 54, of Granada Hills, convicted in December, 1985, of conspiring to violate a ban on weapons sales to Iran. Sharp cited President Reagan’s revelation in November that the government sold arms to Iran after secretly lifting the ban, about the same time the government was prosecuting Cutter and St. Claire.
