Lakers Play Suns in Phoenix Tonight; Alvan Adams, Magic May Sit It Out

The Lakers, who have won nine of their last dozen road games, including the first three of this trip, will complete a four-game swing tonight against the Phoenix Suns, who may be without center Alvan Adams.

Adams lost his balance and fell to the floor Monday during practice, landing hard on the left side of his face. He was taken to a clinic, where 15 stitches were required to close a cut near his left eye. Adams said he fell because he was trying to favor a sore left ankle.

He told a club official late Monday afternoon that the ankle injury may keep him out of the game.

For the Lakers, it’s wait and see with guard Magic Johnson, who has played brilliantly despite Achilles’ tendinitis in his left heel. Trainer Gary Vitti said that Johnson will decide at game time whether to play. Johnson said Sunday that he would probably rest for a couple of games. The Lakers and Suns will play again Wednesday in Los Angeles.
