More Foreigners in Tokyo

TOKYO —
The number of foreign residents in Tokyo increased by a record 16,574 last year to 156,930, the metropolitan government said Wednesday. Officials said that Koreans, both South and North, totaled 82,267, accounting for a majority of the foreign population, followed by 30,894 Chinese and 13,974 Americans. Tokyo’s population as of Jan. 1 was 11,905,570.
