HONG KONG —
A Hong Kong man was convicted Thursday of attempted blackmail after cases of soft drinks were found laced with rat poison.
Court officials said that Chung Kai-ming, 26, was found guilty of trying to blackmail Hong Kong Soya Bean Products, a soft drink manufacturer, last September.
Chung demanded $250,000 from the company and threatened to poison more drinks on sale in local supermarkets if he was not paid.
