Growth: Battle Lines Are Drawn : Doing the Frug, Stomp and Twist

Share

Re the piece of Ms. Cannon and ballroom dancing (Feb. 24):

To each his own.

I happen to be one of those “dancers in their 40s still doing the stomp, frug and twist and shaking” my body all over the place.

Her opinion that those dances were “never really good” and that we don’t want to “let go of it” or that we are trying to convince ourselves that what we’re doing is fun, is off the mark. It is fun! We do enjoy it. It’s part of our youth, just as much as the swing is for those now in their 60s.

I also happen to appreciate the waltz, fox-trot and other “ballroom” dances, and, although I may not be able to win a tango contest, I enjoy and have fun trying.
