TOKYO — French External Relations Minister Jean-Bernard Raimond arrived here Saturday for an official visit to Japan and consultations with his Japanese counterpart, Tadashi Kuranari.
Raimond, scheduled to arrive from New Delhi on an Air India flight Saturday afternoon, flew in via Beijing instead. Japanese Foreign Ministry sources said they had been told by the French that Raimond had changed his flight on security grounds but no details were given.
Raimond is also expected to meet Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone and other officials before leaving Japan on Monday.
