SDSU’s Van Wins Long Jump in Invitational Meet

Rodney Van of San Diego State won the invitational long jump with a leap of 24-feet 1 3/4-inches Saturday in the Bud Light Invitational on SDSU’s Choc Sportsman Track.

In the invitational high jump, Jim Cody and Alan Hodgert of SDSU leaped 6-9 1/2 to tie for first with Frank Eatmon of Cal State Los Angeles.

Jennifer Sheflo had the best showing among SDSU’s women’s team, finishing third in the open 1,500-meter run with a time of 4 minutes 44.44 seconds.

Yvette Bates of USC set a meet record in the triple jump with a distance of 42-3 3/4.

Thom Hunt of San Diego won the men’s 5,000-meter run with a time of 13:58.46.
