Lesbian Story

I want to commend you on an article that appeared in the View section of Feb. 14 (“Love Stories: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” by the View staff).

The article focused on the relationships of several couples. I was extremely pleased to see the inclusion of the story of a lesbian couple in that article. It was presented in a positive manner, and the simple fact that it was included in a matter-of-fact way, with no special comment, right alongside stories about heterosexual couples makes an important statement.

Your publication is a major vehicle of information to the public. What you choose to report, and how you choose to report, has a significant impact on people’s attitudes and opinions. It makes a great deal of difference when you exercise this power in such a sensitive and enlightened way.
