The Nation : Presser Trial Set in August

Share

Teamsters President Jackie Presser and two associates will face trial Aug. 10 in Cleveland on federal charges alleging that he siphoned off $700,000 in union funds over two years in a payroll padding scheme. U.S. District Judge George W. White set the trial date after hearing arguments from Presser’s attorney, John R. Climaco, that prosecutors have failed to turn over thousands of FBI files he needs to show that Presser was instructed by FBI agents to keep mob-related “ghost employees” on his payroll. White took Climaco’s plea under advisement. Presser has served as an FBI informant on organized crime matters.
