Afghanistan Ousts 2 Cabinet Minsters
Afghanistan named two new Cabinet ministers on Thursday, replacing former President Babrak Karmal’s appointees.
Ghulam Farooq Shiwakiwal and Sher Bahadur have been appointed ministers for agriculture and health respectively, the official Kabul radio reported.
Shiwakiwal replaces Abdul Ghaffar Lakanwal, and Bahadur replaces Mohammed Nabi Kamyar.
The broadcast said nothing about the fate of Lakanwal and Kamyar, both appointed in 1982 by Karmal, who was replaced as ruling Communist Party leader by Najib in May and later also resigned as president.
