Bomb Kills 3, Hurts 2 in East Beirut
A car bomb killed three people and wounded two in Christian East Beirut on Thursday, police said.
They said two of the dead were inside the car. A woman pedestrian was also killed, and two passers-by were wounded.
Police fired guns in the air to keep onlookers away from the bomb site, in the Zalka commercial and business district.
A series of bomb explosions rocked East Beirut in January. They included at least two car bomb blasts, one in Zalka, killing two people and wounding 36.
The other, aimed at former President Camille Chamoun, killed seven people and wounded 40. Chamoun escaped with slight injuries.
