CASTING FOR CASH

The Casting Society of America seems to want it both ways. They want our respect for their work as a body, and at the same time to allow their members to make easy money in a way that is at best a conflict of interest and at worst in some cases, outright fraud.

Attending just one session a week would cost more than $1,000 a year. Many actors will go two or three times a week. In most cases that’s money that would be better spent on things like decent food, clothing or at least legitimate acting classes. Do I have to eat macaroni and cheese six days a week so that casting people can drive BMWs?

Mike Fenton, CSA president, and other members of CSA, whatever you’re earning, it’s not our respect.
