PCP Found in Train Worker Test
The brakeman on a Conrail locomotive involved in a deadly crash with an Amtrak train near Baltimore on Jan. 4 had traces of the drug PCP in his urine, federal investigators said today.
The National Transportation Safety Board said tests it ordered performed on brakeman Edward Cromwell showed he had traces of the illegal drug, also referred to as angel dust, in his system. Tests ordered earlier failed to disclose the presence of PCP, but they did show that both Cromwell and engineer Rick Gates had traces of marijuana in their urine after the collision that killed 16 people and injured more than 170 others.
