Bakker Scandal and TV Ministries

Share

I am not a “religious” person, but if I am ever so inclined, my first prayer will be: “God, protect me from Christianity.”

We have before us Oral Roberts who is going to be murdered by God unless we poor suckers who work for a living cough up millions of dollars.

We have Gene Scott who screams “bankruptcy” from his 40-room mansion as he tries to wiggle out of paying for his loans.

We have also, dear people, our little sweet, mascara-streaked Tammy Bakker and her hubby, Jim. Tammy has a “drug problem” and Jim was “coerced into a sexual encounter and betrayed by friends.”

These people sell the biggest commodity on Earth--God. They prey like vultures on the guilt and stupidity of others--and line their pockets with the loot. The sad part of this whole sordid mess is that we are “judged” by the company we keep--and the leader of this gang of crooks is innocent or not, God. His reputation is suffering by the behavior of his leaders here on Earth.

The most astounding fact is that these people are rich, which does not speak well for the intellect of John Q. America. Between our political leaders and our religious leaders is a flock of sheep called the public. Some of us will follow Ronald Reagan over a cliff--others will follow Oral or Gene or Jim--and some of us will stand back and scratch our heads in bewilderment at the incredible stupidity of the human race. Which category do you fall into?
