A snowstorm that raked the Plains over the weekend covered the Ohio Valley with up to eight inches of snow, closing offices, schools, airports and highways, while a record-setting cold wave threatened budding fruit trees and livestock. Although the storm weakened as it moved into the Ohio Valley, seven inches of snow closed Greater Cincinnati Airport in northern Kentucky for an hour. Eight inches of snow fell at Louisville, Ky., and six at Dayton, Ohio.
