‘Racism Is on the Rebound’
It appears to me that Haywood’s article is a perfect example of reverse racism.
He seems to say that because a defendant is black and charged with a crime that the police activity was motivated by racism, and this must be considered as a defense in every or most cases.
He makes no mention of the blood/alcohol chemical test result of the drunk driver--virtually conclusive proof that the defendant was under the influence while driving. No, instead he raises the specter of racism as the police motive.
Haywood is as guilty of racism as any bigot. He was entrusted with jury duty in a criminal case and chose to believe that prosecution was racially motivated. He should be barred from jury duty.
