Intelsat, the international communications satellite cooperative, named Dean Burch director general. Burch, a one-time adviser to presidents Richard M. Nixon and Gerald R. Ford, was chairman of the Federal Communications Commission from 1969 to 1974.
At the same time, Intelsat announced that Susanta De Alwis, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the United States, and Juan Ciminari, Argentina’s secretary of communications, were named chairman and deputy chairman, respectively.
