Local News in Brief : San Fernando Council Elects Hansen Mayor
San Fernando City Councilman James B. Hansen, a lifelong San Fernando resident, was appointed mayor Monday by the City Council.
Hansen succeeds Councilman Jess Margarito in the one-year, largely honorary position that is rotated among the five council members.
Hansen, 53, vice president of a liquor distributing firm, was appointed to the council in September, 1985, after the resignation of a councilman who moved out of the city. He had served on the city’s planning commission eight years before his council appointment.
Roy M. Richardson, who is in the second year of his third four-year term on the council, was appointed mayor pro tem.
