Sri Lanka Accepts Truce

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —
The Sri Lankan government Wednesday agreed to a 10-day cease-fire in the offensive against Tamil militants, a senior government official said. The move is seen as a step to reopen stalled peace talks between the government and the Tamils, who are fighting for a separate homeland in the northern and eastern provinces.
