Missile Misses British Couple Out for a Stroll
A British couple said Thursday they were lucky to be alive after a dummy missile fell from an air force jet and crashed into their garden, narrowly missing them.
Roger Harris, a 48-year-old civil servant, and his wife, Eileen, 45, were taking a stroll Wednesday evening in this village in southern England when the training weapon smashed through a tree, breaking into four sections.
“It was very close, much too close for comfort,” Harris said. “I suppose it missed us by 20 yards.”
A Defense Ministry spokesman described the incident as “extremely unfortunate,” and said a full inquiry had been launched.
