Armed police units in the mountainous Yugoslav republic of Montenegro arrested three bandits after a two-day chase, police said Thursday.

Marko Markalj, 25, Tomo Coljaj, 22, and Marija Stamaj, 32, all ethnic Albanians, were arrested after a spate of crimes over several months in Montenegro and other parts of Yugoslavia, they said.

Police said Markalj had two guns when they cornered him in the Montenegrin town of Tuzi but did not put up a fight. They gave no further details.
