A 14,081-foot mountain peak in south-central Colorado should be named Challenger Point to honor the seven crewmen killed in last year’s space shuttle explosion, a federal panel has ruled.

The U.S. Board on Geographical Names voted unanimously Thursday on the name, which must be approved by Secretary of the Interior Donald P. Hodel.
