Colorado has posted all of its rural interstate highways with 65 m.p.h. speed limit signs, the first state in the nation to do so since Congress approved the higher limit, state officials said Friday.

The last of the 430 signs, which cover 789 rural miles of Interstates 70, 25 and 76, was posted Thursday on eastbound I-70 at Frisco, Highway Department spokesman Dan Hopkins said. The $65,000 changeover began on Monday.

Hopkins said 60% of the 65 m.p.h. signs were new, while the others were old signs.
