COOL PEOPLE

Did Hochman and Spurrier purposefully pick the most ridiculously ignorant people in the clubs to interview?

Their attributes were laughable. They seem to think they’re saying something new by spouting off about “trendies” and “poseurs.” If they looked past their own self-absorbed lives, they would see all of the other 30,000 who look just like them. (Face it kids, black leather and trashy clothes are trendy.)

I favor the idea of having an alternative to the usual fashion-show, Top-40-only dance clubs. But it would seem that clubs like Scream and White Trash au Go-Go are no alternative at all. The only thing setting them apart from “popular” clubs is the music. The people are the same.

The idea of a New York-underground-inspired club is an appealing one. However, “rubbing up against” people such as those interviewed for the article is not.
