Leftist Salvadoran guerrillas wrecked a score of vehicles on the country’s highways as part of a continuing effort to cripple the country’s economy, army and rebel sources reported. Military sources and witnesses said the guerrillas machine-gunned or set ablaze at least 20 cars, buses and trucks in different parts of the country during the third day of the campaign. There were no immediate reports of people killed or hurt in any of the incidents. The rebels last week announced an indefinite ban on road travel and said it was to protest the army’s method of forced recruiting of poor youths.
