The lawyer for former Argentine Gen. Carlos Suarez Mason said in San Francisco that he will fight extradition of Suarez, 63, on grounds that the charge of mass murder of political prisoners is politically motivated. Attorney Jack Hill said it is difficult to prepare a defense because of an incomplete and too-literal English translation of 1,500 pages of charges filed in Spanish by the Argentine government. U.S. District Judge D. Lowell Jensen refused to give Hill a translator and told him that extradition can be based only on the documents that had been translated. No date for an extradition hearing has been set.
