Three crew members and a passenger on a Boeing 707 jet were killed when the cargo carrier crashed in flames in a field while trying to land in rain and fog Monday night at Kansas City International Airport, officials said.

Identities of the four victims aboard the plane, which was operated by Burlington Air Express of Irvine, Calif., were not immediately available. There were no known casualties on the ground.

Burlington Air Express spokesman Steve Grier in Kansas City said the firm was waiting for more information on the crash before making any comment.
