A British Foreign Office official arrived in Beirut on Tuesday for a three-day visit to try to find information on three missing Britons, including Anglican Churchnegotiator Terry Waite.

A Lebanese Foreign Ministry official said the visiting British envoy, Adam Thomson, would meet with officials in the Christian and Muslim sectors of the divided Lebanese capital.

The British Embassy withheld comment on Thomson’s mission. The Foreign Office in London identified him as a desk officer responsible for Lebanon and Israel.
