Israeli warplanes crisscrossed Lebanon on apparent reconnaissance flights, one day after Syrian troops extended their deployment to within 35 miles of Israel. The flights were aimed at inspecting new positions taken up by Syrian troops along the strategic coastal road south of Beirut to the Awwali River, just north of Sidon.
