Winston-Salem, N.C.-based RJR Nabisco reported a 6.8% rise in profit for the first quarter of 1987 and a 2.7% revenue increase. The firm said net income includes a previously announced after-tax gain of $208 million on the sale of Heublein Inc. This gain was offset by after-tax expense provisions of $209 million for equipment and facilities writedowns, restructuring costs and the cost of early retirement of high-interest debt.
