Due to crude oil prices that were significantly lower than the average prices realized during the corresponding period of 1986, Chicago-based Amoco Corp. reported a 21% drop in profit and a 12% decrease in sales for the first quarter of 1987. Also contributing to the earnings decline, a spokesman said, were reduced liquids production levels and depressed results for refining, marketing and transportation operations. Partially offsetting the flat results were record chemicals earnings and reductions in exploration and operating expenses.
