Altadena : Sheriffs Combine Stations

Share

In an effort to reduce overhead, the Crescenta Valley and Altadena sheriff’s stations are combining administrative duties, with Crescenta Valley becoming a regional station and Altadena a local station.

The Crescenta Valley office will take over most of Altadena’s clerical and administrative jobs but there will be no reduction in the number of officers on the street or in the level of service to the community, said Capt. John Biard, who will be in charge of both stations. The change will eliminate the positions of one captain, three lieutenants and 11 sergeants by June, 1988.

Lt. Carol Painter will command the Altadena station, reporting to Biard. The current Altadena commander, Capt. Ron Black, will be transferred to the Hall of Justice in Los Angeles.

The combined stations will cover Altadena, La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose and 220 square miles of the Angeles National Forest.
