‘Abortions and the Poor’

I hope your readership looks deep in this issue. It is our responsibility as good citizens to see to it, via our legislators, that the restrictions not be ratified because low-income Americans are total human beings with the same needs as all of us--shelter, nourishment and, for women, reproductive health care!

You have hit the nail squarely on the head in your assessment of parental consent for teen-agers seeking abortions. It has always been my feeling that for families who have good communication relations it does not matter what laws are passed. However, for many young people such family communication in the area of sexuality does not exist, and the parental consent restrictions should not be supported.
