A laid-off newspaper employee armed with a shotgun entered the press area and mail room of the Anchorage Daily News and fired at least three times, killing one man, police said. Former Daily News employee Derrick Green, 30, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, Assistant Dist. Atty. Stephen Branchflower said. Witnesses said the gunman entered the building shortly after 4 a.m. and opened fire, hitting one staffer.
