Reputed mob boss Nicodemo Scarfo was convicted of conspiring with a Philadelphia city councilman to extort $1 million from a developer. Scarfo, 58, showed no emotion as he faced the federal jury of nine women and three men and heard each one call out “guilty” on the separate charges of conspiracy to extort and extortion. The trial lasted 11 days and featured testimony from two former mobsters, who said Scarfo not only tried to extort $1 million, but also ordered murders.
